The Pixie Detective and Black Cat Moon

The Pixie Detective:
Short Drama, 25 pages
Placed on InkTip 7-31-26
Synopsis: Caity, an aspiring seven year old pixie girl detective, dons a signature Sherlock Holmes hat and wields a large magnifying glass as she frequents the abandoned shipyard across the meadows from her home. Accompanied by her loyal companion, a large black cat affectionately named Miss Blacky, she immerses herself in what she proudly refers to as "detective work."
One fateful day, while nestled beneath an old dock near the crumbling warehouses, Caity overhears two men engaged in a conversation within a dilapidated shack that once served as an office. Their words hint at something nefarious, igniting her curiosity and concern.
Upon returning home, Caity excitedly shares with her mother a troubling sight: she witnessed a frightened young Asian girl being led into the shipyard, seemingly destined for an unknown fate. However, her mother dismisses her claims, even when Caity implores her to consult Miss Blacky, insisting, "Miss Blacky can vouch for me; she saw it too."
Despite her mother's stern warning to steer clear of the shipyard, Caity's determination compels her to investigate peculiar sounds she heard drifting across the meadows the previous night. With Miss Blacky by her side, she bravely ventures forth, aware that her feline friend possesses extraordinary qualities that set her apart from ordinary animals.
As Caity delves deeper into the mysteries surrounding the shipyard, she begins to grasp the inherent dangers lurking in places where young children should never tread. Yet, as she attempts to aid the frightened girl in escaping from the men in the shack, she finds herself ensnared within the very confines of danger, her presence discovered, and the threat of their illicit activities closing in around her.

Black Cat Moon: Feature, Drama-Supernatural, 100 pages.
Synopsis: Shane Dugan is a resilient and rugged man, yet beneath his tough exterior lies a sensitive soul grappling with a heart condition and a troubled past. Orphaned by tragedy—his father murdered when he was just a child and his mother succumbing to grief during his adolescence—Shane carries the weight of suspicion regarding his father's death. However, it isn’t until one luminous moonlit night that he captures a haunting image of his landlord and the town's Pastor burying something human-sized in a secluded field.
Shane safeguards these unsettling photographs in a cedar chest hidden beneath the house he rents. Before he can decide how to proceed, life takes a harsh turn when he suffers a stroke on a construction site. Though his strength enables him to recover, a second stroke strikes hard upon discovering that his landlord has sold all his belongings, believing Shane would never bounce back, compounded by the mysterious disappearance of his cherished black cat.
In the wake of Shane's passing, the tenants in his former home experience a string of bizarre events, perhaps guided by Shane’s beloved cat, which they cannot seem to rid themselves of, prompting them to vacate the premises.
Enter Connie Mar, a spirited first-year law student from out of state, who embodies a blend of determination and curiosity reminiscent of Ally McBeal and Nancy Drew. Eager to embrace her independence and escape the confines of her overprotective family, she finds solace in Shane's cat, despite the chilly reception from the house itself. Initially, it seems that something—or someone—opposes her presence.
When the town's Detective uncovers a body in the very field Shane had photographed, Connie is drawn into the investigation, deciding to postpone her registration at the local university. Unbeknownst to her, a shocking revelation awaits her, especially after two thugs break into her temporary home and threaten her safety. As she delves deeper, Connie begins to suspect Shane's landlord, now her own, particularly after learning about his dubious business dealings with Shane's father.
In a twist of fate, the mistrustful spirit of Shane, bound yet desperate for resolution, reveals himself to Connie. Recognizing the necessity of trust, he understands that her involvement with the Detective could uncover the truth he so desperately seeks.
Connie holds the key to the cedar chest and the clues that could help the Detective expose the killer and liberate Shane from his haunting past. Yet, as she navigates this treacherous path, the risks she takes could very well threaten her own life.
